Nesh Ta Gol teh... to all the lovely people on here... I have decided to run the Los Angeles Marathon this Year which is on May 25th of this year... I am running this event in honor of my Elders and my Ancestors who ran to stay alive for years in the deserts of South West... In fact the Apache routinely covered 60 miles or more a day to stay ahead of the Calvary who's horses could only cover 40 miles a day and so in 25 years of pursuit they never caught them !!!! I am asking all of you who want to sponsor me or help me raise money for this event to send your donations as a check or money order to ... Jay Tavare 256 S. Robertson Blvd., Suite # 707, Beverly Hills, CA 90211 USA
You can give a flat sum $$$ or sponsor me per mile... any amount is excepted... I am doing this to help Adopt a Native Elder program and anyone who wants to run this event with me, they are welcome to join me on the race day... I already have a few folks who want to run this event with me as a group... don't worry I am not in a Marathon shape either but it will be fun trying... lol My publicist is trying to get us some press coverage so we can really make this count... There are only 42 days left so please if you really can help... dig deep and lets raise some money for a cause that is dear to my heart... I thank all of you with all my heart... I know this is not an easy year to spare any money but I also know to give away something you need will bring more of it into your life... Have a blessed week ahead JT>

Great idea I didn't know that about the Apache. Amazing! Not believing you ;D If I didn't live on another continent I'd come and help carry drinks for everyone I'm sure Team ANE will do well and hopefully we'll see photos. Before and after photos would be interesting

I sent out my donation today. Yesterday we went to the casino near us. My husband can never pass it by when we go back home from shopping out of town. If I win a little I always put some aside, for if I want something,or want to do something with it like this. I don't tell my husband all I win or he would want to spend it all at the casino. You could say this is my mad money, and this is the kind of thing I do with it,keep it until I want to put to good use. It's not a lot,but more than I originally was going to donate.

We have received money, put inside a card and then into an envelope. Euros or Dollars It will get here. You don't have to send check or money orders or use Western Union. If you hide it in a thick card it will most likely make it here. We just got a $50 Dollars from Germany. Traveler's Check. And even cash from other European countries. By the way thank you to everyone who has donated towards Jay running the LA Marathon. Jay has acknowledged all the generous donations and will post a thank you later. Keep them coming folks... only 35 days to go.

Jay, Good Luck for the Marathon!! Raising awareness for your cause of helping Elders is quite a noble goal, I looked at the adoption site. You might consider joining twitter.com, where you can develop a fan base as well as make some great friends. =) And all your followers can broadcast your message to all their followers... it could be a great tool to spread your message. And it is fun! I have only been on about 3 weeks and I am hooked... would be glad to help with direx if you need.
This past Monday I watched the Boston Marathon o tv, way too crowded in town to go there! but it was quite an exciting race, especially the women's, which was very close!

Hau Everyone, Some information about the Los Angeles Marathon on May 25th, 2009. You can watch the race internationally on the following website. KNBC Universal Sports Webcast www.universal.com(Global live webcast.) www.universalsports.com/marathonThis is the LA Marathon website www.lamarathon.com/page.php?id=19I noticed on the website that all athletes can have their photo taken when they cross the finish line. Perhaps we can ask Totems if this might be another way we can help JT earn money for his cause. He might agree to sign and sell his photo here, or on another of his sites. There will be pictures from fans I'm sure, but I believe the photos taken by the Marathon are of professional quality, (Not that those taken by fans aren't.) You can check out the website and make up your own mind. Also, any of you living in the Los Angeles area can volunteer to help the runners. Information about that can be found on the official Marathon site. Laura:)

Hello everyone, if you like to track Jay as he runs the LA Marathon you can use his Bib number 11314 AdptN8vElder. Go to LAmarathon.com and sign up for Race day Tracking. We will have Jay's finish line photo several days after the race and we will post it here and on my space and face book. Jay has reminded us this is not a race for him and he will stop to interview the press whenever he can and it is more of a fun run that will raise awareness for Adopt a Native Elder program. Good luck Jay.

I did it. I signed up for the Race Day Tracking. It asked for the First and Last name of the entrant to be tracked, not the Bib Number though. There is probably only one Jay Tavare in Beverly Hills I would think.
Good Luck Jay! You'll Be In My Thoughts And Prayers!

I signed up for it and I didn't receive a single notification. Did anyone else have this problem? I also watched the finish line cam that was running live feed and it was kind of a pain since it kept glitching and then sped up before glitching again. I did read the article where the runner from Kenya beat the record set in '06. He finished in 2 hrs and 8 min. That's pretty remarkable.

I had the same problem I signed up twice and never got the notification!! I also had problems with the live feed. It kept telling me I needed to install Adobe flash and I already have it I was able to read the favorites for the race and there were several from Kenya that were favored to win. Hopefully we get some news soon of Jay's experience Rae
