Hard to believe, but "Into the West" was my introduction to Jay. The night "Manifest Destiny" aired for the first time on TNT, I was just sitting in my living room absorbing the story when Jay appeared on screen for the first time. The Brits have a fun word for being bowled over...it's "gobsmacked." That was me with my jaw hanging open, thinking "Who is this guy?!" The mini-series as a whole was pretty bleak, painting as it did an accurate depiction of the era. But the romance between Chief Prairie Fire and Naomi-Five Horses was a warm, sweet interlude. I know that some sad stuff was edited out of the final product, and personally, I'm glad. I think a whole bunch of Jaybirds were born that June night last year!

INTO THE WEST was my introduction to Jay also. I don't know why but the character Chief Prairie Fire struck my interest. I found myself on the website for INTO THE WEST, reading the list of characters and about the actors/actresses who played the parts. Well, then I came to Jay name and ended up at his website. And at first, I was cautious about posting anything, so I put my "feelers" out and start reading and reading and reading, etc. Of coarse, I got cross eyed after a while and took the dive. I went and bought the book INTO THE WEST and "pasted" myself onto Jay's web site.
