Aug 14, 07 - 10:02 PM Loss of an Angel...
Dear friends and fans I am so sad and heart broken to let you all know tonight Aug 14th at around 8 p.m. Pacific time my little dog Mofasa who was only 15 months old ran under a car and lost his life. I am devastated by this loss as I had been working with him for the last 8 months and he was becoming a such a great little dog. Ironically we had a great day at the beach today until tragedy struck. I will miss him dearly, he had such a great personality and everyone who met him was charmed by him immediately. It happened so fast I had no way of stopping it, he ran after me into the street. I remind everyone little dogs like kids need your full attention at all times and I feel very guilty in the loss of this little angel.
May you rest in peace my little son...
You are dearly missed.
You can see his last pictures on my space page.
Jay Tavare with a broken heart...

There was not much you (or may even the driver) could have done about it to prevent it, unless you would have kept him looked indoors all the time.
Last year we lost one of our cats (5 1/2 years); got run over possibly by a motorbike. The last thing we could do for him was to lay him to rest in our garden. Very strange thing happened a week later when a kitten came into our garden and just walked straight into our house and got comfortable. Unfortunately, the owner came looking for it few days later and we had to give her back. On the same day a neighbour said she's got a kitten looking for a loving home. So we took that little jet black kitten on, called Jack. Our other cat (Rudi) was not too pleased about it first but he's sort of alright now with him. Jack helped us getting over the loss. It's obviously not quite like losing a child, but it's bad enough to feel very sad about it because they become part of your family, nevertheless.
May Mofasa rest in peace!

Aug 16th, 2007 - 2:46 AM Re: Loss of an Angel...
I already wrote on your myspace blog, so i didn't wanna repeat myself. But again, I EMPATHIZE with you on your loss. I actually was talking to one of my friends who recently lost her cat to a driver. I didn't know about it, for it has happened over two weeks ago(been too busy to keep tabs on my homies...heh). She blamed herself alot, and was afraid to get another cat because she felt responsible. But then she is doing something amazing to keep her cat's memory alive. And it happened to be an idea I told her about last year when my dad passed.
She's turning her baby into a LifeGem.
I hope I'm not out of line here, but since we are talking about losing a loved one(human or animal), we must also bring into light the different ways of remembering them and comforting us. One of those options is to take the cremains of a loved one, send them to the LifeGem, and have the cremains processed into a diamond. It's a genuine diamond. It takes about six months for that process to complete(depending on the carat and/or color), but the end result is your loved one being a brilliant, beautiful diamond to be worn by you always.
And I couldn't think of a better way to show that kind of deep love for those that passed on. I did that process with my father. My friend is doing it with her cat. There's a comfort in that this is completely tangible. Some of us have to have something tangible when dealing with grief. I don't know about anyone else, but I know I do.
I hope no one is offended by me saying this. I have nothing but good intentions, and want to suggest a way to deal with such a loss. Given Mofasa's personality(as you have described him), he was a diamond in life, the apple of your eye.
He was a LifeGem.

Dear Mr. Tavare,
I am so sorry for little Mofasa and your loss and hurt. Hits close to home here. Last saturday my sister had her vet come out to her home to put her wonderful three- legged Rottweiler to sleep. He had gotten Valley Fever that set into his leg, then bone cancer. My sister did get to have good friends and neighbors near. He was a gentleman dog and all that met him love him. so, my heart goes out to you.
where do we find the words to say at times like this.
one thing i know for sure, just like my sister and her dog, little Mofasa had life good while he was with you. A little brave heart, no fear, i am guessing.
love to you, Mofasa, and my sister's The Z Dog.
best to you always,

Dear Jay,
I am so so sorry for the loss of your little angel, my heart goes out to you,I do understand .I lost my Dakota 3 weeks ago. So I pray that your grief will get easier in time and know your little one wouln't want to see you sad. They love us so so very much and they depend on our strenghth as we do theirs,so try to be strong ,and I will keep you and MoMo in my prayers always.
To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.
I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there,as my father and as my FRIEND.
You live in my heart as I do in yours. Love one's such as you, are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies.
Peace and Love

Read this somewhere.
Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

Jay,
Don`t know what I could say that hasn`t been said. The loss of a personal animal is rarely easy. I`d give alot to have one more week with Lucky Star but it opened the door to create a new special relationship with an old mustang named Mexico that gets better all the time. Sometimes I think we get these special friends even for a short time because they have something to teach us. I do hope he`s found Cheyenne and they`re playing happily.

Aug 19th, 2007 - 10:21 AM The Rainbow Bridge
Hi Jay,
Cheyenne has been joined by her little brother Mofasa.
I like to believe that just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Their bright eyes are intent; Their eager bodies quivers. Suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.
You have been spotted and when you and your special friends finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress their beloved heads and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pets, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Peace & Hugs,

Hi Jay,
So sorry for your loss. I understand completely how you feel right now. My beautiful dog Dempsey had to be put to sleep last week and I am totally heartbroken. She was 15 years old and had a bad heart, she was more than ready to go, but it still hurts more than I can say. She was my constant companion since she was a pup and there's a big hole in my life right now that will be hard to fill.
The only consolation is that she had a long, happy life with me and I'm sure that your little guy would have enjoyed every second of the life and love that you gave him. Just remember the good times and try not to dwell on the way he left you, it serves no purpose to feel guilty about that which you cannot control.
Best wishes to you xxx

Dear Jay,
I'm sorry for your loss. Your Mofasa was a lovely little dog indeed.
Although you are heart broken, never broken is your love for him. Know that you have done your very best, and little precious Mofasa is looking down upon you smiling and knowing that is daddy loves and misses him dearly.
Rest In Peace Little One

As a pet owner myself I feel your pain and am very sorry. It is always hard to lose a loved pet who becomes a part of your family. It is really heart breaking . think this way, at least Mofasa had a nice day at the beach before his departure.
May he rest in peace

Questions and guilt often arise when a sudden loss like this occurs. You did all that you could and it was in the hands of Wakan Tanka.
Be comforted knowing that his spirit travels with his older sister Cheyenne there to protect him.

Dear Mr. Tavare,
I am so sorry for little Mofasa and your loss and hurt.

Thank you Single Mom. I hope it's okay that I sent what you wrote to my daughter. She recently lost her very loved Siberian Husky to cancer. My daughter and my son-in-law had rescued her from a woman who had seriously neglected her. She was as close to their hearts as a child would be. She was an amazing creature. I know I sure miss her.

Hi Jay,
So sorry for your loss.
