Jan 22, 08 - 12:25 PM Question for Jay.... Can Animals feel our vibes?
Terri Civerolo Asks...
Loved the new photo of you hiking with MoMo - so beautiful. Do you think the animals we love truly know what is going on in our spirits? Do they react to us because of outward signals we're sending off - or because they know/feel deep down into our souls? Do your dogs know if you are sad, lonely, or upset, etc.? And, do they come and comfort you? My 2 cats certainly do(Wesa = Cat in Cherokee and Catori = Spirit in Hopi). I'm going through a divorce & they are such a comfort. I'm sure your dogs react when one of their family is sick or passes - but do you think they react to how You feel deep down inside?
Thanks so much, Terri

Hi Terri interesting question. I think I had touched on this subject on another answer, but I will add...
Animals communicate through body language and vocal tones, as in how deep your voice gets when you are not happy with them as in NO... or how high it may go when you are happy as in, Good Boy... which is why Dogs and wolves love the female voice over the deeper male tones. But beyond that, I believe a 4-legged brother or sister, which is how I look at my furry family, can sense your emotions very easily. A Wolf can smell fear and so can some dogs. A dog or a cat that has lived with you for some time is in tune with your emotional life and they feel everything just as the unborn child can, when the mother is stressing out. It has been proven by just petting your dog or cat you can lower your blood pressure and calm your nerves, I know Mohawk still makes me laugh on a daily basis with his corky and funny personality.... and laughter is the best medicine. I also allow my furry friends to show me their personality which is not always the case when you have to break an animal which is a nice way of saying they were domesticated. I have trained many dogs and wolves in my life and a few horses but I never use force or hit any of them. It's a dance between the two souls and I will not always lead. When you are sad or down your vibrations are different and no matter how hard you try to hide it, your animals feel the ora from you... have you ever seen a dog or a cat that will not go near one of your friends? That is because they feel something about that person and they stay away...
They are much more in touch with their intuition and psychic abilities that we have to but have lost the connection over time...
I wish you a recovery from your divorce as I have been through one myself and I know first hand it's never easy...
Nantlass... Stay strong.

Feb 17th, 2008 - 12:26 AM Thank you Jay, Jaybirds & Old Bear
Thank you so much Jay, Jaybirds & Old Bear for answering my question. So many wonderful points. I love animals - my gidi Wesa is snoring besides me right now. Good point Old Bear - we need to be more tuned in to our animals vibes.
Jay, I love your comment that its a dance between 2 souls & you don't always lead. Isn't it amazing that our animals can reach down into our hearts & souls and communicate without being able to say a word?! And animals, especially dogs, love so unconditionally. Like you've said, in spite of her deep abuse Cheyenne was able to show you love and wisdom.
Don't you wish we could all forgive like dogs forgive? Ha, I'm not sure cats forgive so easily - they hold a grudge & give you that "look" for a while
Thank you for the caring words about my divorce. I'm so sorry you had to go through one too. I hope the hurt has eased for you and your path is a better one. This new journey will be a very good one for me. I've learned I'm so much stronger than I thought. It seems to me that you have been strong and wise for a very long time - thanks for sharing that.
You are beautiful inside and out. Gunjule - I know you are,

Most definately they can feel our emotions. And in doing so, can provide the best kind of comfort. I know when I need a good cry, the only place I want to be is up against my horse's shoulder. She's not a particularly affectionate animal, but when I'm low she stands patiently and lets me hug all over her for a while. I've been around horses since age 7 and they pick up so well on your mood, especially when you are riding. Riding truly is a "dance between two souls" as Jay said. If I get on my horse in a bad mood, it's probably going to be a rough ride. But if I take a deep breath and leave my problems on the ground, a good ride will re-center me and when I get off her back, I find the problem doesn't seem so big anymore. I forget who it was that said "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man." I now also have a dog and what I love about him is he will come over to me and just lay with me or climb onto my lap (and he's not a small dog) at seemingly random times. I think he knows I need comfort even before I do!

I, from my own experience, can say...absolutely. Animals know. They know from our posture, and I swear, from our thoughts, scent: if we`re afraid, happy, etc. Its not something I would doubt.

I must agree as I had the Flu about two weeks ago and I was down for a whole week. And that whole week I slept on the couch and my sweet Abbie slept in front of the couch the whole time. I would often awake with her standing in front of me smiling (wagging her tail). Such a good girl.

I totally agree that animals do feel us. I know my cat Buddy feels me, he knows everything but I have to admit it seems a little different from when I had my dogs, they seemed to feel me in a different way.

hoi jay, i just want to give a reaction on what you said.i know about body language etc. and that they sense emotions and that they read our bodylanguage just by seeing/look at us.when i walk with my dog we will leave emotions and thougts at home and get relaxed by being out in the nature and forget everything at the time. really nice.about personality i reconished that in all animals i see and also the one's they have "trained"the personality out of them. sad sad. its also true to not always lead your animal. for example:i was walking whit my dog and on a hill{small one}was sitting a young girl. i see she was from the asiel center {they from a other country because politics or wore, hope you'l understand}in the nabourhood. i also know that the people there mostly dont whant to do anything about dogs.my dog see her and walked to her.i called her but she wouldent come back, she looked at me as she was saing, i here you but i'm not coming.so she go to that girl and i was following because i did not know how the girl would be react.when i was approached i noticed she was crying and she touched my dog and said "thanks"to the dog. i believe my dog give that girl a "comfort" and she never met the girl. this personality from my dog is very strong, she want to met every person or animal and always be kind to them. she never fights, not even know what that is. i called her some times the dalai lama between the dogs.so what do you think, is she not a smart dog?, she will approached everyone, even when they will harm here.so she will go near persons always even when they are not ok.or is she to much domesticated. maybe jou find this interresting, i read a book at this time:learning their language, by Marta Williams{www. martawilliams.com.} i think its interresting. thank you for reading ,you dont have to answer nessecary but it will be nice.and it is good to read some interresting dialogs on your site. greetings from here.
