It was a late decision to run this years LA Marathon on May 25th... it's the 24th annual event and it falls on Memorial day this year! I knew with a bad knee and only 4 weeks of training I would be no where near the condition I need to be to run 26.2 miles... so why run it... ? I run to awaken the spirit within... I run to bring attention to Adopt a Native Elder program... and the much needed understanding that our Native tribes need help and deserve the same rights as all Americans... I run in the memory of my beloved Dog... Mohawk!
People always tell me I inspire them to do better, to try harder, to dream bigger... I agree... I think life is an opportunity to reach your potentials... all of them... I find inspiration in how the Apache men, women and children could cover long distances in the desert... always staying ahead of the Cavalry...
When I feel weak, I remember how the lack of food must have weakened the body but not their spirit, which stayed focused on the task at hand... to stay alive, to find the next watering hole... to be silent when the soldiers where near...
Getting out of our comfort zone and riding the edge of life... is where all true seekers must go... Always remember... All limitations are self imposed !
I want to end by thanking all the wonderful and generous people who have sent me money, from all over the world... it's never too late, there are two food runs in May and October. And a rug show in November.
All of You are my reason for trying harder... for running this race...
Live this moment to the fullest... get up my brothers and sisters and reach your potential!
