1st Question - RE: Regrets:
Michaelle Kelly Writes
Hi Jay,
Life is like an open book. Each day we add more to the story of our life. We can't skip to the end of the book because they are empty pages waiting to filled and we can't undo what is already written. However, looking back at the written pages, if possible, what would you rewrite? Or do you believe that everything happens for a reason leaving no room for regret or maybes?
Jay Writes...
Hi Michaelle a philosophical Question. I like that. Listen up Grass Hopper! I never regret anything I have done, only the things that I never did. I believe every event that happens to us in neutral and it's the human mind that puts a positive or negative spin on it. For example Steven Hawkings who is one of the most brilliant theoretical Physicist only found his true calling after he was stuck down by the paralyzing disease that left him with nothing to do but to think! Only then he was able to see in his minds eye the fourth and fifth dimensions and beyond. So was his disability a gift or a curse? I do believe that each one of us has a destiny but I also believe that destiny will only take you half way there you have to chart the rest of the way yourself. Also it is hard to judge a book when you are half way through. Sometimes you have to allow the situation to pass before all of the lessons or the reasons are revealed. The most important thing I have learned is before I start any endeavor I will set a higher reason for doing it what I mean by that is do it for some reason more than personal gain. Then relinquish control and work hard but surrender to the unknown and welcome the challenges that are ahead. The Buddhist say it best... If you want to make God laugh tell him all your plans! Wishing you a great new year.

Hello Jay,
Once again we can count on you for an enlightening phylisophical post. Your blessed, wonderful spirit seeps through as always.
And you're sincerely correct with your observation that we have to come to the end of a situation before we can see what we have learned from it.
Personally, I have found it can take even years before you can reflect on an experience, and discover how it has positively or negatively affected one's existence. These are the realizations that I look most forward to.
Buddhist, and Christians are very similar in an idealogy. Christians believe that we plan our lives, but God orders our steps.
On a fun note, too bad MoMo's not here, a horrid thing is falling from the sky.... it's snowing !! LOL

Many people believe that every experience is an oppurtunity to learn and with age you are able to look back and appreciate just that. Also many theologians/spiritualists maintain that there is a divine purpose to everything that happens- I HOLD TO THIS WHEN MY FAITH IS PUT TO THE TEST.
I also think Jay's point about our futures is true-we can steer our destinies-the gift of free will allows this.
Thanks Jay for sharing your thoughts with Michelle and us.

Michaelle,
That was a great question. Jay is fortunate not to be one who is burdened by the weight of regret. I however have always struggled with the bad habit of looking back while trying to move forward. Well of course this causes one to trip a lot. lol Altough I have not completely alleviated this crippling trait as a central tenet of my character I now do a much better job of shortening the time spent in regret mode to brief seconds, thankfully followed by more sound reasoning (yet again) as to why I've got stop doing this.

Thank you Jay for answering another question!
I like the idea that some circumstances come into our life as neutral and it is up to us if we put a positive or negative swing on it. Also, that sometimes you are not aware or know the knowledge you receive until much later.
However, I also believe that not all circumstances come in as neutral. For instance, rape, abuse, robbery etc… I believe that there is evil that exists in the world and that a person does not “ask” or “welcome” this tragic event(s) into your life. I do believe however, that you can learn from these horrible circumstances – maybe help someone else who is working through it. I also believe that you should allow yourself to feel the hurt that has happened to you and to work through it. It is way too easy to get mired down in the pain and it is extremely important to work through it in order to have a better life. [
Growing up I used to be an optimist and always happy. Circumstances took a great tole on me and I stopped smiling, laughing and enjoying life for too long. Now I am learning as I get older what is really important and the value of life – it is short! – and the fact that I want to enjoy every minute of it not just for me but for those around me. Hard habits are hard to break but I am going to work on it.
Jay, I really do listen to what you have to say – your advice is always wise and comes straight from the heart. I have to say that in the time I have been on this board, I have found that I am at more peace with myself and that I have been able to let go of a lot of anger/hurt and not let the little things in life bother me so much.
This time of year can be very painful for many people, me included – whether it is a reminder of what you don’t have or no longer have, financial burdens, loneliness, family strains or wishing for that someone special to come into your life. I wish for everyone, me included, this season to find happiness and joy in the season and throughout the year!
One way that I found to get out of the “blues” during this time of year is to give to someone unanimously. I have found a great organization that I was able to give to throughout this year and I plan on continuing next year as well. Another thing that I like to do is if I happen to be out to eat and there is an elderly person by themselves I like to pay their check without them knowing who it was that did this! It brings me so much pleasure!
What kind of gifts do you Jaybirds, Jaywalkers or lurkers like to do?

2nd Question - RE: Pathfinder
Michaelle Kelly in New Jersey Asks...
What was your deciding factor in choosing to play the role as 'Black Wing' in 'Pathfinder' and how were you able to transform yourself into said role?
Jay Writes...
Hello Michaelle, although no two films have the same appeal to me and why I choose to do them. On the first read of the script I must feel something that moves me. I originally read for the Pathfinder role which eventually went to Russell Means. I was even screen tested for that role but at the time the role of Ghost and Starfire were written for much younger folks. When the studio decided to change the script, I was then offered to play the rebel Black Wing. By this time I had already invested much time in researching The Wampanaga Indians who resided in the area the story takes place, btw, their name meant the "People of the Rising Sun." I agreed to do the role with the promise that I could re-write the role which I did to some extend from the angry redman to someone who had more reasons to be a rebel. Although the film we shot was over 3 hours long the version you will see will only be a 90 minute action-packed, edge-of-the-seat ride. I am sorry to say much of the back story and the love triangle is gone due to the fact the first screenings, which was rated PG-13 were not well received and now the movie is a hard core R. Our director Marcus Nispel is known for his gore as in TCM remake (that's the Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror epic). Now because this film takes place before recorded history here in America ( 1200 years ago ), I did have fun with the look of Black Wing. From his hair which was a play on the East Coast Mohawks to being a little heavier as they lived in colder climates and I think the extra bulk was needed to survive the harsh conditions in the Mountains. But the real transformation takes place and when all of the above comes to life, is when I step on the set on the first day of the shoot and I can always look in my Mirror in my trailer and know I am no longer Jay. I know the openeing has been pushed to Jan 27th but if the studio did not believe in the film, they would have dumped it this summer which they did not. So I am still keeping my fingers crossed for Pathfinder.

Hello Jay,
I think the meaning of the Wampanaga indians is very beautiful, what can compare with the splendor of the rising sun. I bet it was exciting to re-write the role of Black Wing, and even more so when you portrayed him on set. I was looking forward to seeing the movie...I was going to see it for my anniversary in Sept, but Jan is my birthday so it will be my present. (grin I am not telling my age either) Maybe when they release Pathfinder on video they could release a special version showing the entire 3 hour movie. As a writer I understand how hard it is to get all the background story, love triangle, and adventure into a certain word count...almost impossible, so I could not even begin to imagine how hard that would be on a script. I did see the preview once on tv and it really looked good,I like the part where the guy comes out of the water with his sword and attacks the giant Viking! Well my fingers are crossed for you as well, but I know it is going to be a big hit by just seeing the preview and I can't wait to see it. Oh yea my first book is being released shortly after your movie comes out...if you have time maybe you could read it.

'TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE'!!!!!!!!!
that movie always scared/scaired me. and felt so bad for the people. so, haven't watched much of it. but, when we moved into out humble abode, some have called it a shack, 'the noive' (quote the Three Stooges), there were/are some old timey 'accessories', we've had to replace the toilet, but the original one had a chain pull on it instead of a handle to, well (blush) flush, so we called it 'The Texas Chainsaw Toilet'.
small world, huh? i can relate
so much for my world of special affects/effects

Much Love,
~Moni_Bella~
